The Journey
January 1, 2002 - Word Alive Church (formerly The Evangelistic Center) began in Colorado Springs.
With humble beginnings, Pastor Holly, along with her long time mentor, came to this city from Texas on a
wing and a prayer. Believing God to raise up a church that would touch the city, and eventually the nations
of the world.
The church began in a shopping center on Hancock and, after 2 years, it looked as though all hope was gone
due to the lack of finances. But God proved himself faithful as always.
In 2004, the small congregation moved to 4th and El Paso where for five years in almost total obscurity,
God was laying a foundation for His work to survive.
In 2007, Pastor Gary entered the scene after moving from Lousiana to Colorado. With 30 years of pastoral
leadership in four states behind him, he and Pastor Holly became powerful team members when they were joined in
holy matrimony on June 14, 2008.
In November 2009, God opened an awesome door for Word Alive Church to move into its present facility
(across the street from the municpal power plant on North Nevada Avenue). God is raising up a spiritual power
plant to minister to fragmented people of Colorado Springs.
